Arts and Crafts

(Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)

Are you creative and don’t mind getting a little messy?

Come and join our Arts & Crafts Service and bring out the hidden artist within you! Crafting is beneficial for our health and relationships, no matter who you are but craft therapy is probably the most valuable to people living with disabilities and or mental health issues.

Arts & Crafts offers an opportunity for self-expression and creativity and promotes a connection with our Partners creative side and imagination. It also helps communicate any emotions or thoughts that Partners often find challenging to express. Emotions, feelings, and thoughts can also be expressed in our Performing Arts project within our Arts & Crafts Service.

Are you creative and don't mind getting a little messy?

Craft therapy can help adults with disabilities develop and enhance some physical or mental skills. People with low motor skills can improve their coordination with craft projects that consist of cutting, sticking, painting, or tracing. For adults with mental disabilities, crafts can be valuable in expanding their mental responsiveness and stimulating their learning processes. Craft therapy promotes adults with disabilities to be more inventive and to ‘think outside of the box’.

Most importantly, adults with disabilities often feel a sense of pride and accomplishment after completing a craft project. Living with a disability can adversely affect someone’s mental state. Often, adults with mental or physical disabilities will feel discouraged and unmotivated because of their conditions and even more so as they age, and skills and abilities may decline. This is why Arts and Crafts has become such a priceless part of our Osborne Partnership community as our Partners get to create something individual to them.

So come & join the Arts & Crafts Service and:

If you can accomplish a craft project, then you can do anything you put your mind to!
